Privacy Policy
A straightforward, honest breakdown of what this site does and doesn't do with your data.
Overview
The Code Column is a personal blog run by a single individual. There are no membership signups, no contact forms, no comment systems, and no newsletter subscriptions. This means very little personal data is collected or processed through this site.
This policy exists to be transparent about the minimal data activity that does occur — primarily through the web hosting infrastructure and third-party resources the site loads.
What Data Is Collected
This site does not actively collect any personal information. No forms ask for your name, email, or any other details.
However, like all websites, basic server logs are automatically recorded by the web hosting provider. These logs may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit. This data is collected passively by the server — not by this site directly — and is used solely for security and uptime monitoring.
Cookies
This site does not set any tracking or advertising cookies.
WordPress, the software powering this site, may set functional cookies if you are logged in as an administrator. These cookies are strictly necessary for the admin dashboard to function and are never set for regular visitors.
Third-Party Services
This site loads resources from the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy governing the data it may collect:
- link Google Fonts — Used to load the typefaces (Hanken Grotesk, Newsreader, JetBrains Mono). When your browser requests these fonts, Google may log the request. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- link Google Material Symbols — Used to load icons. Governed by the same Google Privacy Policy linked above.
Analytics
This site does not currently use any analytics platform (such as Google Analytics). If analytics are added in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect that.
External Links
Articles on this site may link to external websites. This privacy policy applies only to The Code Column. Once you leave this site, the privacy practices of the linked site apply, and this site has no control over them.
